My women

(2015)

When I first got my hands on round pieces of plexiglass, I wanted to build some kind of layered object from them. The problem was that it was not easy to find glue that was translucent and sticks to plexiglass. It happened to be done with ordinary nail polish. You can read how it all happened below.

Round pieces of translucent plexiglass look like biological samples. Samples of drops of blood from the doctor or the serial killer Dexter from the well-known series. But they are not drops of blood, but drops of nail polish. Every woman in my neighborhood uses a different range of colors and is therefore identifiable by color, condition, and thus it was possible to create her "image".

These are samples of the "blood paintings" of the women around me.

Making of

Okat company is the place where I cut acrylic glass. They had some off-cuts from the work of the others. I got half a bag of these transparent circles and ovals. I was thinking for a long time, about how to use them. Maybe there is a time to get back to my old idea of building visions from my dream. On each layer, there will be a piece… of a tree, house, or road. So one vision will be one layered object.

But I had one problem. How to glue it together? Epoxide? No, it will turn yellow. So I buy two glues - hobby for everything and Slovak classic Hercules (similar to modge podge).

They were both white, Hercules gets transparent when it dries. So I’m waiting…
And then I remember the best glue from my childhood - nail polish!
The most multipurpose material ever.
I dropped a tear of it between the glasses, pressed a little bit and this was the result… gorgeous!

Then I just toke some colored ones. It’s epic awesome! Every single “Sample“ looks different!

After that I looked at my table and it looked like a laboratory…

I remember, that every woman in my life uses a specific nail polish pallet. Some prefer pastel tones, others love dark grey, glitters, patterns, and so on. So what about if I ask all the women that I know, to give me just one drop? And I will make a catalog, “medical evidence” containing all of them...
